About Me
Hi, I’m Kaitlyn Bowie, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor serving adults in Texas, Illinois, Ohio, and Wisconsin. I work with people navigating major life transitions, processing religious/spiritual concerns, or examining questions of identity and sexuality. Many of the individuals I work with are capable, thoughtful, and successful in important areas of their lives, yet find themselves feeling stuck or disoriented after a significant change or shift in belief. These moments of transition, while gut-wrenching and devastating, can also become some of the most generative seasons in life.
I am trained in clinical counseling, public education, and theology. I care deeply about human flourishing and approach psychotherapy from an integrative stance, always following your lead on what you hold as most important.
My Approach
I believe that meaningful growth begins with authentic connection. My approach is grounded in theoretical orientations including person-centered therapy, psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, emotionally focused therapy for individuals, and mindful self-compassion. These frameworks allow me to connect deeply with who you are, and support you in making lasting changes.
I will take time to understand who you are, what you value, and the challenges you are facing. I genuinely invest in the people I work with. Together, we will uncover the roots of your struggles, process difficult experiences, and identify how to build the life you are craving.
What Makes My Practice Unique
I am a curious person, perpetually excited about learning and continually expanding my understanding of people, the world, and the complex challenges we face in today’s society. Whether through reading, listening to podcasts, or staying updated on emerging research, I strive to bring the most current insights to my practice. This commitment to growth enables me to engage with you on topics that are relevant to these rapidly changing circumstances in our daily lives.
I hold a Master of Divinity from Duke University, a Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Clinical Counseling from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and an Advanced Certificate in Self Psychology and Religion from the Center for Religion and Psychotherapy of Chicago. I am trained to engage with you very deeply in your questions, doubts, and meaning-making process as it relates to your existential concerns. I follow your lead on how, if, or when these questions enter the room.
Who I Work Best With
I work best with people who are thoughtful, reflective, and often highly analytical—those who have spent much of their lives relying on intellect, competence, or action to navigate challenges. Many of the people I work with are learning how to name, identify, and experience emotions in new ways, especially during seasons of transition, loss, or identity change. You may appreciate clear communication, value depth and honesty, and be looking for a therapist who can engage in difficult conversations with care and directness.
Therapy with me is collaborative and active. I work best with clients who want a genuine conversation partner—someone who will help untangle complex experiences, notice patterns, and make meaning together. Our work often involves slowing down, increasing emotional awareness, and thoughtfully creating a path forward that supports purposeful and lasting change.
