About Me
Hi, I’m Kaitlyn Bowie, a Licensed Professional Counselor serving adults in Texas, Illinois, Ohio, and Wisconsin. I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, burnout, major life transitions, and religious/spiritual concerns. Many of the individuals I work with are capable, thoughtful, and successful in important areas of their lives, yet find themselves feeling stuck or disoriented after a significant change such as a loss, divorce, or shift in identity or belief.
I have a particular interest in working with people who are newer to identifying and understanding their emotional world. If you’ve spent much of your life relying on intellect, analysis, or action to move forward, slowing down and turning toward emotions can feel unfamiliar or even overwhelming. In our work together, I begin where you are—often in that cognitive, reflective space—and gently support you in noticing, exploring, and making sense of emotions that may have long been present but not fully understood. These moments of transition, while challenging, can also become meaningful opportunities for growth, clarity, and deeper connection to yourself.
My Approach
I believe that meaningful growth begins with authentic connection. My approach is grounded in theoretical orientations including person-centered therapy, psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, emotionally focused therapy for individuals, and mindful self-compassion. These frameworks allow me to tailor our work together to meet your unique needs and goals.
In our first few sessions, I'll take time to understand who you are, what you value, and the challenges you are facing. My style is conversational and relational; I genuinely invest in the people I work with. Together, we will uncover the roots of your struggles and create actionable steps toward healing and growth.
What Makes My Practice Unique
I am deeply committed to learning and continually expanding my understanding of people, the world, and the complex challenges we face in today’s society. Whether through reading, listening to podcasts, or staying updated on emerging research in psychology, I strive to bring the most current insights to my practice. This commitment to growth enables me to offer you informed, ethical, and intentional care.
I hold the ethics of this profession in the highest regard. I understand the profound trust you place in me when you share your most personal struggles, and I approach this responsibility with care, respect, and intentionality.
Who I Work Best With
I tend to work best with people who are thoughtful, reflective, and often highly analytical—those who have spent much of their lives relying on intellect, competence, or action to navigate challenges. Many of the people I work with are learning how to name, identify, and experience emotions in a new way, especially during seasons of transition, loss, or identity change. You may appreciate clear communication, value depth and honesty, and be looking for a therapist who can engage in difficult conversations with care and directness.
Therapy with me is collaborative and active. I work best with clients who want a genuine conversation partner—someone who will help untangle complex experiences, notice patterns, and make meaning together. Our work often involves slowing down, increasing emotional awareness, and thoughtfully creating a path forward that supports meaningful and lasting change.
Next Steps
If you’re ready to begin or continue your journey of self-discovery and healing, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Let’s work together to create a space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward.
